I see baby birds, a beautiful view like the Grand Canyon.
Interesting flowers, waterfalls like the smashing rain.
Trees like grass waving in the wind.
Leaves scattering all over the ground like a messy room.
Ponds wrinkling in the wind .
Rocks just sitting there, a home to bugs.
Mountains pushing through the clouds like my teeth pushing through my gum.

Trees everywhere to see. I walk through no buildings only wilderness. Here I walk again no cars no big factories. As I walk here today we could go back a thousand Years ago And it would Be the same. This is obviously The most Beautiful Thing in the world.

Swimming in the lake is a pleasure. Diving of the rocks and having contests who could hold their breath the longest. Seeing who could retrieve the prettiest rock. After swimming we go fishing from a rowboat for the glimmering trout that are lurking in these murky waters. We sit there for hours staring at our rods, waiting for a nibble, or even a tug. We go back to camp, nothing in our hands, but long faces. We go to our tents and turn out the light. Shhh!

A Campground in Washington
First I walk though brush and get to some rotten wooden bleachers. Then I walk past the bleachers onto a cliff. From there I go down a path and to the sandy beach were I walk across a log I get to the other side. The log is skinny. I throw rocks off another cliff into the rushing water below. When the rocks hit the water, they made a huge splash and got me wet. I also went swimming in the river the current was really strong I could swim against it, And I ran back across the log and another onto the beach, up the cliff, past the bleachers and back into my tent. I was all sweaty and tired and I hoped I could do it again the next day.

I like climbing a big mountain because a cold breeze goes across my face. I want to turn back down the mountain because of the conditions like the hard wind and the trees going back and forth but you never do. I always keep going because I am confidant that I can make it. I walk a little longer and you get under a big bunch of trees when you see a tiny crack between two trees. I see the shiny white clouds above you and I can see anything my imagination goes to like a dragon or a tulip. Then you walk a little longer and you get to a cliff or a peak. I think climbing a big mountain pays off.

Hiking
Dry or wet, I go on a hike in the forest or ravine. When I walk on green moss the mud gushes out from under my feet. When I step on a twig it cracks, I hear rustling in the leaves. I think it's deer or squirrel. When I look down I see shiny rocks with wet mud on them. Hot or cold, I like to hike in the wilderness.

The rocks sit still, Covered by blankets of moss, Like a baby in a bundle.
The trees are green, The sky is blue, And right next to you, You hear the trickle of a flowing stream.

What I love about the mountains is that it really works your legs for you to be able to have stronger legs for the next hike you go on. When you go on another hike, it might be bigger and you will be ready for it because you have gotten in good shape and have your good exercise. I also like the air because it's very fresh and when you're burning off energy, which mixed with the cold air all around it really feels good on your body all around. Also you get to see some very rare and amazing animals like elk and deer. And what I men by rare is that you can usually only find them in the mountain sand other cold places. And if we get lucky because it snows we can take a break in the snow and have some fun in the snow.

Crossing the River When I went camping in the mountains, we camped next to a river. The site was not in a campground, it was down a grassy road. Our second day we decided to go down a trail down the other side of the river. In the middle of the river, I realized I'd forgotten my bandana, so my dad had to go get it. The river was freezing cold. I was almost knocked over by the current. Luckily my dad was right next to me. He held me in place and I did not get knocked over in the current. The water in the middle of the river soaked my bottom of my shorts. I slipped on a rock and sat in the water. It hurt when I hit the rocks on the bottom. When I got to the other side I was happy because I was out of the chilly river.
On our way back we walked halfway across the river in the water. After we went halfway we stepped onto a rock and climbed up onto a huge fallen log. We walked to the other side of the log and were finished. I was glad I had done the hike.

To Camp
To camp is toĦ
Tromp around in the grass, to eat outside. To look for animal , to wake up to the sound of birds and then the roar of the car.

3CC: Davis, Essay, Meridian School What I like about hiking I always like when the misty mountain air brushes across my face. I also like when we get to the end of our hike because it feels good when I'm done. I always like when I go across bridges. It makes me feel tingly all over. My favorite thing about hiking is seeing all of the beautiful things. I see deer running through the woods, squirrels scrambling for the trees because they are scared of the deer. I always like when I see the new plants. I see ivy, blueberry plants and rosemary and last but not least, roses. I love hiking so much.

When I'm hiking at the Wild Sky Wilderness I see nature and animals. My favorite thing to do is to think about what I like to do in the wilderness. I like to stop for lunch, eat and watch our dog swim. I throw a stick into the water for my dog to chase. I like to skip rocks. They skip across the blue water. When we get back from our destination I think about the great time I had. I think of the lake and of all of the adventures I had.

I went to the south fork of the Hoh River. At first I did not want to go but may dad pushed me into going because he did not want to leave me alone for two days. So I went. After The hike I was glad I went. I went with my dad, mom and my sister Camille.
We climbed on big rocks. When there were stumps I climbed up them and then jumped off. I waded in the river and got freezing cold. Luckily the rain stopped and the sun came up so I dried off quickly. To get to the river I waded in we had to cross a stream.
We had to cross on a small plank that was as skinny as my shoe. After we crossed the super skinny bridge it started raining again. Then (as I said earlier,) I waded in the river. After that we set up our camp. The next day in the morning we went swimming in the river. We boiled dehydrated soup and hot chocolate for breakfast. Then we hiked back to the car and took the fairy back.

3JJ: Claire O'Brien, Essay, Meridian School What I love About Hiking I love the snow when it's there because the sunshine glistens on it. The birds sing graceful songs as the trees sway in the breeze. It's funny to see the little chipmunks scurry up trees. I also love to see my dog, Rocket, prance through the snow. If you have a dog, they love hiking, so bring them along.
