The start of the 2005 Dakar Rally edition will be on December 31st in the spanish city of Barcelona. 230 motorbikes will line up fort the prologue.
The crossing of the finish line in Dakar is on January 16th, after passing 8.956 km and 6 countries.

After the tragic death of Richard Sainct, winner of the Dakar Rally 2003 for the third time, everybody will be in thoughts of this great sportsman.

Acerbis Gear Factory Pilots for Dakar rally:
South Africa's Alfie Cox, Team Gauloises KTM, 9-time winner of Roof of Africa Rally, is hot to be on the podium again, after reaching the 4th place at last years Dakar Rally.

Fast chilenean Carlo de Gavardo, KTM Factory supported rider and 2004 Rally World Champion in the 450 class, is keen to show his performance until Dakar.

Jean Brucy/France, Team Gauloises KTM, winner of the Rallye d'Orient 2004,
starts with a lot of experience and known for his reliability and team-spirit.

"Retired" Italian offroad hero Giovanni Sala, Repsol Red Bull KTM, will be inforcing the spanish KTM factory team, this time exceptionally in team clothing, but with Acerbis boots and helmet.

The great 2004 champion Nani Roma / Spain will start the Dakar in a Mitsubishi, and wear Acerbis gear in his bike and promotion activities in 2005.
