first of all.. how would it ruin the skis? cant really break them unless you hit a huge rock. 2nd. this is similar to "grass drags" a sport not many people know of. its like drag racing 2 snowmobiles on grass that race about 500ft or so. in a way. its not hurting the snowmobile at all. the only thing hard on it is the part the track rubs against, (i forgot what its called) but when sand gets inbetween the track and the plastic it will cause ALOT of friction and it will wear it down very fast. and like mentioned before. a snomobile would only last about 10 min and it would overheat and stall. (not ment for 90 degree weather) a snowmobile modified to work ok in the sand is INSANE. imagine a somthing that only weighs about 600lbs , with a engine thats 150+ hp. and 2 inch lugs on the track going up a sand hill....... yea awesome.
i forgot the website.. but theres a website with a sandrail drag racing a snowmobile up a huge sand hill.... must have been the glamis Comp. hill it sure looked like it. and the snomobile took off like a rocket and beat the sandrail by a long shot.
