Instruction
The British School of Falconry was founded in 1982 as the world's first full-time falconry school.
Under expert tuition, you will be introduced to the centuries-old traditions and pleasures of falconry.
Equipped with Barbour jacket, boots, and falconer's glove, you will be guided in the art of handling and flying these magnificent birds of prey. The school now teaches more than 4,000 people per year.
Introductory Lessons (45 minutes) provide "hands on" experience in handling and flying a Harris hawk. An introductory lesson with hawking (2 hours 30 minutes) combines basic techniques with hunting.
Hawking Days (half day: 2 hours 30 minutes, full day: 6 hours) include a hunting session during which guests fly Harris hawks at rabbits and game birds in season.
Falconry for Groups (1 hr 30 minutes) offers a private flying demonstration, including eagles, hawks and falcons, with an opportunity for guests to handle and fly Harris hawks.
Falconry Breaks (2 days) combine 2 nights' stay, including dinner, bed and breakfast, with an introductory lesson and a half day's hawking.
Certification Courses The British School of Falconry has a world-wide reputation for the excellence of its courses and teaching methods. In Britain, the school proved pre-eminence with the Department of Trade and Industry, which enabled the use of the prefix 'British'. In the U.S.A. it was the first school of falconry to be permitted to offer 'hands on' tuition. For details on Certification Courses click here
