ELECTRIC GO-CART
For the Younger Generation
Not to be outdone by his father, in 1970, Raymond Douglas, age 13, designed an Electric Go-Cart equipped with two 12-volt batteries which could be operated in parallel, delivering 12-volts to the electric motor, or in series, delivering 24-volts to the motor and doubling the speed. He designed the entire propulsion system including the series-parallel contactor type controller, without outside assistance from EFP engineers, and hand-built all the Go-Carts himself, after school hours and on the weekends.
Raymond Douglas, standing, instructs one of his customers how to operate the accelerator and brake pedals.
