Archery
The Archery School at The Equinox
The Archery School at The Equinox provides a rare opportunity for guests to learn this ancient sport under skilled supervision.
In recent years, archery has derived a loyal and dedicated following as a leisure pursuit. Testing both the skill of the exponent and the balance and craftsmanship of the equipment, the challenge of mastering one of mankind's oldest hunting weapons holds broad appeal for both sexes and a variety of ages. Having mastered the mounting and drawing of a bow, novices at The Archery School can soon experience the thrill of releasing their first arrow at a simple target, under controlled and safe conditions.
The Archery School features recurve bows for teenagers and adults, together with a range of junior bows for children as young as eight. One-on-one crossbow lessons are also available.
Introductory Lessons
Learn to mount and draw recurve bows to release a set of arrows at a traditional target, over a short distance. Once a degree of proficiency has been mastered, the distance between archer and target will be increased and the target varied. Guests will also learn about the language and history of the sport. This activity can be packaged with falconry and off-road driving to provide a Country Pursuits Package.
Crossbow Lessons
A one-on-one private lesson with the instructor during which guests will be taught to fire precision crossbows at traditional targets with a recurve bow over a range of distances.
Field Archery Lessons
Guests who have mastered the basics during an introductory lesson can then test their skills on our Field Archery course. A specially prepared trail leads the archer through a woodland setting to shoot at 14 different life-sized animal targets. The instructor offers advice and keeps score as experience is gained in applying new-found skills to a hunting situation.
Combination Lessons
Combine an Introductory Archery lesson with a Field Archery lesson.
Archery For Groups
Groups will enjoy lessons above, followed by a fun competition that involves shooting traditional targets with recurve bows over a range of distances. This activity can be packaged with falconry and off-road driving to provide a Country Pursuits Package. (Minimum of ten people for groups) *20% gratuity not included in price.
Archery Corporate Challenge
Follow basic hands-on instruction with a choice of fun and challenging games, such as "archery snooker," "archery golf," and "archery darts." (Minimum of ten people for groups)
Field Archery Tournament
Country Pursuits can tailor an entertaining event on our 3D Field Archery course, where archers will be scored on a variety of realistic life-sized animal targets. (Minimum of ten people for groups)
