Corbin Saddle for Buell
XB-9R & XB-12R
A comfortable alternative for your radically positioned sportbike! Corbin's pilot saddle for the Firebolt adds a lot visually, but also gives you a longer comfortable riding range. We've designed it with a concave seating surface that better matches the contour of your body, which gives you more square inches of body contact. Look at the difference in shape between our seat and your stock seat... it's not hard to visualize which is a better fit to your posterior. This "ergonomic" shaping is what eliminates hot spots and pressure points by dispersing your weight across a greater area.
This careful shaping also neutralizes the seating position, which means you won't find yourself sliding towards the tank as much. Many people incorrectly attribute the discomfort in their knees to the tight ergonomics, but in reality it is more often caused by fatigue as you continually push yourself back from the tank. By eliminating the downhill slope of the stock seat, we relieve much of the stress on your knees and wrists. Again... longer riding range!
Inside the saddle is our exclusive Comfort Cell foam that is nearly twice as firm as your stock cushion. By retaining its resilience, Comfort Cell can support your body weight and give you support all day which is why we always say "Firm is a good thing!" This picture also shows how the refined shaping of the Corbin seat provides support for your body even under your legs. All told, our saddle gives you nearly twice as many square inches of body contact.
On top we use genuine leather for a totally custom look and a platform that breathes with your body. Naturally we offer you a wide range of leather styles and colors to choose from. To go along with the sportbike theme of the Firebolt, we suggest our Carbon Fiber laminated leather seating with coordinating Carbon Fiber embossed vinyl sides. Vinyl side panels help support the foam shape and keep the saddle looking sharp longer. Leather seating will break in along with the foam shape to provide a personalized fit over time. Be sure to care for your leather saddle properly with a quality conditioner like our Saddle Cream.
Corbin's patented molding and manufacturing process provides a precision fit to the tank and tail section while saddle rides on rubber bumpers to protect the bike's paint. For you rider's that have problems with the seat height, we've built this model as low as possible considering the chassis geometry. Our platform height sits right at 31.5" which is the lowest possible seating without compromising comfort value. Installation is simple and just like your stock seat (detailed instructions below).
Special Notes and InfoSeating: Approx. 13" wide x 12" long
Approx Height: 31.5"
Corbin's front saddle comes ready to install on your bike with necessary brackets pre-mounted. The only thing you will need is a Torx wrench (#27) and some mild grip threadlock compound. The most common we've found is the blue Loctite brand.
Installation:Simply remove your stock seat by lifting the rear corners and taking out the two Torx head screws that hold the seat to the chassis. Slide it towards the rear of the bike and remove. To install the Corbin saddle, reverse this process by sliding the Corbin seat into place positioning the tongue of the saddle into the clip on the frame. Now lift up the rear corners of the seat and secure it in place with the two stock bolts through the Corbin bracket and into your sub-frame. We recommend using threadlock on these bolts to assure they will not accidentally back out and torque them to 5.5 ft/lbs unless specified differently in your owner's manual.
