Audi's rich tradition in motorsport began with the Auto Unions in the 1930s. Fifty years later quattro left its mark in world rallying while the 1990s saw Audi dominate the Touring and Super Touring categories of motor racing after success in circuit racing Stateside. Since 1999, Audi has concentrated its efforts in endurance sportscar racing and has now won the world famous Le Mans 24 Hour race on three occasions (2000, 2001 and 2002). Four "customer" Audi R8s will bid to score a fourth Le Mans triumph in this year's race on 12-13 June - including two entered by the German prestige car manufacturer's British importer.
