Customer Reviews:- Wow!
This game is just as much fun as the first one, with whole new levels based on the now classic Crash Bandicoot gameplay, I would recommend this to anyone, Crash fan or not....more info - Great game whether you're 8 or 80
I hadn't played a video game to any extent for probably 15 years when my son got this game given to him by my nephew last year. He loved it and immediately started playing it, so I checked it out. I quickly became completely hooked. I have now beat all the boss levels and are going back and cleaning up the gems and relics. And that leads me to my second point. One of the best things about the game is that, even after you beat the game, there is still a lot to do. At each level, you collect boxes; you can get through the level fairly easily (thus earning the crystal), but even then there are still several goals at each level. Each level also have one or more gems (which you earn by collect all the boxes), and several relics (which you collect by getting through the level in a certain period of time). These are not easy! I beat the game (i.e. got all the crystals) within several weeks of playing the game; but I am still (months later) only up to 50% on the gems and relics. You certainly get your money's worth from this game, even more than the previous Crash title (Crash 2). Of course, it's got many secret levels and other hidden goodies as well. As far as family-friendliness, it's lower than Crash 2, but still quite high on the scale. Crash does wield a gun, which bothered me a little. But there are two compensating factors: (1) the gun shoots fruit, not bullets; and (2) none of the foes are human, either animal or robot (when you get to the bonus world you discover that the bad guys that look like humans are actually robots - you see their assembly line). It looks like the game designers went out of their way to avoid having you shoot at other people, which I for one greatly appreciate. Like the other Crash games, the vast majority of the foes are either vanquished by jumping on them or "spin-moving" or "sliding" them (both of which just knock the opponent out of the way), or you simply escape from them. There are also the TNT boxes, which you jump on then have 3 seconds to escape before they explode. There are a few cases where you need to get rid of foes using the TNT boxes. Like the previous Crash games, the violence that is in the game is very comical, however, with no blood or gore. The graphics are a bit dated (being from the late 90's). Some kids may thus turn up their noses at the game. That's unfortunate, because it's a great game. Only playing the newest, latest thing is both expensive and gives short-lasting pleasures. Will adults like it? I don't know, but they should: In my view, games unsuitable for kids are not actually suitable for anybody. In any case, *this* adult certainly does like it. Get it, whether you're 8 or 80. You won't regret it....more info - Crash's best game
I am shocked and *very* pleased to report that Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped is a DRASTIC improvement over the original Crash Bandicoot.
As you may have heard, I am definitely NOT a fan of the very first Crash Bandicoot game released for the Sony Playstation in 1996. I am, however, incredibly surprised to find that Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped is actually a really fun adventure game that may have been slightly overlooked at the time of its release because of the seemingly never-ending amount of wonderful games released for the Playstation in 1998.
Just so you know, I can't compare Warped to Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back because I haven't played that one. I can only compare Warped to the original Crash Bandicoot.
Before playing Crash 3, I was almost CERTAIN that Crash Bandicoot was an overrated video game character because my first and only exposure to Crash was the very first game. I thought for sure Crash Bandicoot was either a Mario or an Earthworm Jim rip-off, and didn't deserve all the attention it got.
For 10 years the original was the only Crash Bandicoot game I knew, and truth be told, it was a pretty average game because every stage featured basically the same uninspiring, repetitive island environment where the object was to run to the end of every stage collecting berries and smashing all the boxes as a way to earn more lives and receive a better overall percentage.
Simply put, Crash's very first outing was BORING. It desperately needed variety. Walking through island/jungle stages all the time can only provide so much fun before it inevitably gets boring. The creators of Crash Bandicoot must have realized how boring this formula was because Warped does just the opposite- Warped features nothing BUT creativity. In Warped every stage certainly does NOT have the same feel. You will encounter something drastically different in every stage. I like that.
The main objective of Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped is to find the purple gem found in each of the 25 stages of the game. You HAVE to find all 25 purple gems otherwise the game won't allow you to fight the boss at the end of the world you're in. For example, if you're in World 4, and can't find the purple gem in stage 3, you won't be allowed to face the boss at the end of that world. You're stuck there until you find that darn purple gem. Once you find the gem, and face and defeat the boss, you move on to the next world and repeat the process of collecting one purple gem per level and face the boss. By the way, there's 5 worlds total and 5 stages in each world. That comes to 25 stages total.
The amount of creativity that went into each of the 25 stages is simply incredible. Unlike the first Crash Bandicoot game where you mainly just spin around through a jungle environment breaking boxes and jumping over cracks in the ground, Warped offers a LOT more in the way of variety. In Warped you will encounter a few motorcycle racing stages (where you're required to get first place so you can receive the purple gem), a couple underwater stages (with VERY neat-looking backgrounds and deadly, puffy fish swimming about), a couple levels where you're steering an airplane and required to shoot down blimps and other airplanes, and not to mention those tricky, tiger-riding stages.
Oh, and I HAVE to mention the ultra-cool futuristic robot stages (which require near-perfect jumping patterns in order to complete). The Jet Ski stages are really fun because you're located on top of the ocean and I guarantee you will have the time of your life jumping over ramps while avoiding those floating bombs. Yup, it's awesome. This is what makes Crash Bandicoot 3 so great- you won't know WHAT to expect until you enter the level.
Probably the worst thing about Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped is the fact that the game offers little in the way of challenge. That's not to say the game is a cakewalk, either. People who think Warped is an easy game are only comparing the challenge to the previous two Crash Bandicoot games. If you compare Warped to say, I don't know, Spyro the Dragon, it's not such an easy game then. It's definitely not a hard game either. You WILL beat it. I think the challange is comparable to Super Mario Bros. 1, the old NES classic.
The one thing I find challenging in Warped is the boss battle in World 3 where you're required to jump over bombs and laser beams heading in your direction. This is one case where practice doesn't necessarily make perfect. Also the second airplane stage can be a challenge if you don't bother shooting down the enemy planes.
One thing about Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped that IS incredibly easy is the object of finding those purple gems. Most of the time you can NOT miss those gems, because you basically walk right into them on your way to reaching the end of the stage. I mean, they are always RIGHT THERE. RIGHT in front of you!
After you complete a stage, you can always go back to it and the computer will then give you a new option to complete the level in a certain amount of time. Finishing the stage in a certain amount of time is actually quite hard. It means you *really* have to take off running and not stop for a single moment to smash a box or spin-attack an enemy or ANYTHING. It means you have to run run RUN! Just so you know, completing the stages under a certain time is NOT a requirement. It's entirely up to you if you'd like to accept the challenge. I'm too much of a wimp to accept it, personally.
I like how you can save your game after you complete a stage. You can actually complete one stage and go to the save room, if you wish. Very convenient. Oh, and get this- if during the middle of the game you decide you want to stop playing and shut off the Playstation, when you come back to the game later all the lives you collected up to that point will STILL be there! I can't think of any other game that will save all the lives you collect. Speaking of lives, they are *so easy* to find in Warped that you probably can collect up to 45 of them. That's a lot, and you will probably need them because, even though the challenge ranges from low to medium, your first time through the game won't be THAT simple.
When Crash gets hit or smashed by something, I think it's funny the way he yells "whoa!" It reminds me of that comedian Carrot Top.
The reason Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped isn't going to receive a 5-star rating from me is because of the same problem found in Spyro the Dragon- in the flying stages (in this case, the airplane stages) when you hit down on the D-pad the airplane flies UP, and hitting up will make the airplane go DOWN. The game company made the direction the wrong way! Oops. At least when you steer the airplane left, it will go left. The same with right. Unfortunately, many game makers have made, and continue to make, the same mistake. It needs to be corrected once and for all.
I hope you buy this game for your Sony Playstation and experience a fun time. ...more info - A great game
This game is great. You go through 5 different time portales. Each one has five different levels in it and at the end you face a boss. What you have to do is collect the colored gem and the crystal. Guess what. It's not as easy as it sounds. This game pits you against tons of different enemies appropriate to the level. The only thing that takes a star away from this game is the fact that level ideas are repeated. For example there are two different water levels with not much difference. Oh! one more thing. press up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, square at the title page to get a playable demo of spyro the dragon. This is a great game for anyone who likes playstation...more info - Good...
This Crash game is pretty good, but some of the gme is boring, such as the plane levels, those stink! If you want the best Crash game, buy Crash 2!...more info - The best Crash game yet
The original Crash Bandicoot sucked to put it in one word. Crash Bandicoot 2 was much better, but it was pretty hard to control at times, especially in the surfing levels. This game finally pulls it all together and makes a great source of entertainment. There are numerous crystals and gems, and the new relics, which you earn in time trial mode. Time trial mode determines how fast it takes you to beat a level. You also learn several new moves like the Double Jump, Crash Dash, and the Fruit Bazooka. The thing is, the game is assorted oddly. The second boss, Dingodile, is probably the hardest boss in the game, while N. Gin is extremely easy. The game arranges the bosses Tiny, Dingodile, N. Tropy, N. Gin, Neo Cortex, when realistically, it should be N. Tropy, N. Gin, Tiny, Dingodile, Neo Cortex. Some of the levels are also overrated like the airplane levels and dinosaur levels. The two secret levels, Hot Coco and Eggipus Rex can be absurdly hard to find but they aren't very fun on that note. And last, the game isn't really hard, even though it does take a long time to beat. It may have taken me three months to get 103%, but the only thing I had true trouble with was getting the relic for Mad Bombers. A very good buy.PS: Whoever said they beat the game and got all the secrets in three hours must be totally lying, unless they only beat Neo Cortex without getting the final ending....more info - The best video game character ever's back!
This game has more secrets, including a dancing Crash that can be seen in levels 1, 5, and 8 once you have 104-105%. That and the Uka Uka mask for Cortex are the best additions. Another perfect game!...more info - What a killer!
I'm way far in this game (104%, to be exact) and let me tell you it is so AWESOME! It's got exiting new levels, rideable baby T-rexes, a fruit bazooka, speed shoes...it just never ends! And for all you Coco fans out there, in some levels you can actually BE Coco and ride her loveable tiger, Pura. She even takes place in her own secret level, Hot Coco! Crash Bandicoot fans, go buy this game!...more info - Spyro First
Even though this game is so good,I think you should get Spyro 1 first.Spyro the Dragon gets you to a demo that leads to this.I know you'll like it.If you have Spyro 1 then try the demo! That is what I did....more info - alright
i rented it and i loved it so did my best pal dad...more info - A real let-down
I love these "Crash" games. They are soooo much fun. The second one was the bomb. I loved them so much, I bought this one. I regret I did. This one has more powers and stuff, but I think it is too creepy. I hate games where you have to go in a mummy's tomb. It gives me the chills. It also creeps me out when you go back to time to like the "Aladdin" theme. The ending was a joke. If you want to see Crash in go back like millions of freakin' years ago, go ahead and buy this. If you want a REAL adventure, buy Crash 2!!!...more info - Great game!
Crash 3 is the best out of all the series! Although I haven't finished the game with full percentage, it's still cool just playing the levels you've already beaten, trying to collect the gems or relics!...more info - Great Game, Really Great
Crash Bandicoot: Warped = Orange, cool, creative, fuzzy, neat, great graphics, awesome design, introduction of secret levels for the series, power-ups, new bosses (including a big boss), and a new playable character. These things are what make this a major improvement on the two previous games. Crash 1 was a breakthrough, Crash 2 opened up a new world, and this game completely blows it all away. This was how I got hooked on Crash Bandicoot. I played this and loved it. I recommend it....more info - excellent fun
im gonna break down this reveiw into the 5 game catogories. graphics gameplay sound storyline controls. graphics- wow crash bandicoot warped has the probally the best graphics on ps one i do mean that. there like ps2 graphics almost a beautifal amount of polish and color excellent. gameplay- basic crash elements but whats wrong with that. there are some new additions though like riding on a tiger a dinosaur several flight rounds better bosses nothing much but good fun neverthless. sound- good sound the sound effects are solid and the music is basically a lot like the other two games but it sounds slightly less childish thank god. controls- you know same old same old good controls as always. storyline- pretty good uka uka wants cortex to get ris of crash so he creates a stage of rooms then hires cortex who helped him break out of prizon. crash bandicoot warped is a fun must have game for all crash fans....more info - BEST Crash game.
This game is so much fun! For boy and girls since now you can play in levels as Coco which i loved. You can ride motorcycles fly airplanes and as Coco you ride a tiger and water riding. And dont forget not to only collect crystals and gems but your blue and gold relics! Collect them to go to bonus rounds!Even after you beat the game you want to go back and do it again! Thats why its such a great game you never get bored of it no matter how old you are. I am 11 and even my older sister's boyfriend loves this game and hes 17!...more info - Oh yah baby!
This game rocks! The levels go up all the way to twenty! The game is sometimes funny! On level 3 the tiger acts funny when he dies!HURRY AND BUY THIS NOW!...more info - oh year hes back and hes ready for get warped
now this time you will see a floting pieces of space station that cortex have bulided now this time one evil has returned her name is uka uka. in heart of aku aku he knows that if uka uka will get crystals then ever thing is doomed. by this time crash will do anything to stop cortex from collecting 25 crystals. by killing bosses you will get powers such as super charge body salm, double high jump, tondoro double spin, fruit bazoka and faster boots....more info - Good Variety
When I played the original Crash Bandicoot I was impressed with the graphics and some of the gameplay, but not much more. When I played Crash Team Racing I loved it! It was easy to play and the various levels made the game more interesting. When I saw this game I didn't think it would be that great, but it's a good game. If you liked the racing in Crash Team Racing, you'll also like the various scenarios in this game. You get to ride a tiger, a motorcycle, and you even get to ride some sort of sword fish underwater. In addition, various other Crash-only stages are added. For the price of the game, I would definitely recommend adding this one to your collection of titles....more info - It's not as good as Crash 1 or 2(in my opinion)
This game takes months to get 100% completion. The new feature in this is getting time rellicks(by doing level fast)and swimming. In Crash 1 you get Balders after you sometimes, in Crash 3 you get a dinosaur, I prefered being chased by a balder and when it squashed Crash it went into the screen but you don't get it in this.BUY this if you want a platformer(after Crash 1 and 2)....more info - A bandicoot favorite!
Crash Bandicoot:Warped is a great adventure game. It's based upon when Dr. Neo Cortex's ship crashes into an acient temple. In it lies Uka-Uka,Aku-Aku's evil twin brother.Uka-Uka is mad at Cortex for failing to destroy Crash Bandicoot. So once again Crash Bandicoot must go through different time Periods to collect all 25 crystal and stop Dr.Neo Cortex! This is one of my many of favorite Video games! It is wonderful!
P.S I'm actually 13....more info - good game
its a good game i have to say but it takes a long time to get all the suff...more info - CRASH BANDICOOT: WARPED!
THIS IS AN ABSOULTLY GREAT GAME FROM THE 90S ERA! A MUST-HAVE GAME! IF YOU'RE A LIFELING CRASH BANDICOOT FAN, OR A NEW FAN TO THE SERIES, THEN YOU SHOULD ORDER THIS TO SEE THE BANDICOOT BACK IN HIS GLORY DAYS!!!!!!...more info - This is the most fun game I've ever played
Out of all the games I've played, this is by far my favorite! This game has it all! In a Mario like story, Crash is so much more. He jumps, he spins, he has a Tiki mask, he's the man! The most interesting part of this game is all the varity of it. You drive a car, run through the woods, fly a plane, ride a tiger. It's great, and rewarding too....more info - Another one!
This one is the best of the 3. I like the racing levels. THis game was a bit more challenging, but it's still fun....more info - Blast from the past
This game was, and has continued to be my favorite Crash game ever. You get to be eiher cocoa or Crash depending on the level you choose, and you collect gems and crystals depending on different ways you beat the level, has secret levels within each. The only thing I've been finding annoyance with is the secret levels you get for getting a certain number of Crystals and Gems. Also, comes with a Spyro demo if you hit the write button combination, the combination is in the booklet....more info - A great game

After passing the second and then the first, I was attempted to do this one. The graphics are much better than the previous two, but the story got very boring. The adventures, too, became very uninteresting. Regarding saving and hidden place this one is by far the simplest. The story here continues from where it ended in the last part, if you have won, that is. As oppose to aku-aku, we see the evil uka-uka who is the Big boss of Dr Cortex. And we see that Crash is forced to fight them! Why? Why, to save the world, of course! In the previous 2 parts we had gems. Now, this was not enough for the overactive designers. They introduce trophies in this new part. For a trophy, you have to finish a level within an allotted time. This is not that difficult, but you cannot achieve it in every levels. Some levels are extremely difficult to finish fast. I picked all the gems and all but on trophy, and imagine my frustration. If you are a crash fan you might like this one, but you cannot help being disappointed....more info
