Customer Reviews:- Good for straight cuts, but not angles
Was unable to use clamp on a lot of angled cuts because it interfered with the saw as it was lowered. ...more info - Worked just as expected
The clamp worked just like a clamp should. It is very easy to set up and move to and from either side of the saw. The only fault is that it would be nice if it were just a little bit taller so that it would be easier to swing out of the way over the fence without having to move the fence. ...more info - It works
I set it up on my DW 708. It's a simple thing, but it took me a minute to figure it out. Other than that, It works as advertised...more info - DW7082 - Great addition
Got the clamp when promised. It was a little sticky, but once lubricated it was fine. ...more info - better than your fingers
I need (want) another one. It gets in the way on the right side of the saw (715). The motor is really in the way for use on the right. I use it 90% on the left - I cut my waste from the right. But I only use it about 50% of the time - lazy. No complaints about the function. Pricy - but so is a visit to the ER....more info - Take the long view
A five star item that loses a star to overpricing. Not Amazon's fault -- seen them in the box stores for even more.
Was working recently with 16' sections of cedar decking. Dewalt 12" slider on a good stand w/ 5' support on the left, so 10+' of unsupported lumber. The cuts were square but kept coming out slightly beveled, which left the butt joints on the deck too d@#m open. Went to the truck and dug out this clamp and cranked it down snug -- what do you know? No more bevel!
That actually highlights one annoying trait of the clamp. I had to go get it from the truck. I've found that I can't leave it mounted on the saw without losing a good chunk of left bevel. Also interferes with any dust collection you may have hooked up. Was working inside on a rainy day so I had my fein vac hooked up. On a hard right miter cut, knocked the hose against the clamp which was swiveled around "out of the way." Of course I didn't notice and when I fired up shot dust all over the place. And of course the client walked in right at that very moment. My fix is to find some spot on my stand that's out of the way, boring a slightly oversized hole it in, and just leaving the clamp stuck in there when not on the saw. One of these days...
So... well, I still think it's worth five stars, even if just for those cuts when you know your fingers are too close but you do it anyway, you know?...more info - Solid
Excellent accessory for the DeWalt 15" saw. Quickly clamps and holds wood tight. "Quickly" is a key consideration, and they have it down! More expensive than you might think a simple bolt in a piece of metal should be, but no doubt the best clamp for the saw, and far cheaper than mistakes....more info - Must have for a mitre saw
Such a simple clamp, but makes handling the workpiece much easier and safer. Much better than the type that simply pushes from the front of the mitre saw against the fence. Very sturdy, and holds very tight. The swivel arm aids in getting the clamp exactly where you need it. ...more info - Better than what comes with the saw
I recently purchased the Dewalt DW318 SCMS and ordered this clamp at the same time. I was disappointed when I compared the clamp that came with the saw with this one. The stock clamp has a smaller knob on the top for tightening against the work piece, and only the DW7082 has the quick release button to quickly raise or lower it. The stock clamp does have a bolt on the back of the arm that can lower it on the leg, but the fence of the saw only allows 1/4" of play unless it's slid out of the way. Originally I only ordered one DW7082 clamp knowing that the saw would already come with a clamp, but after comparing the two side by side, I ordered a second DW7082 and put the stock clamp aside. To invest in the saw and not have accessories that perform the way I want them doesn't make sense to me....more info - The DW7082 is the tops
I'm a residential contractor. I bought one with my original SCMS purchase over a year ago. Ever since wished I had a second one ... so I finally did it. Now I won't have to switch the one around (I usually like it on the intake), and also I can hold both sides of my work at once when I need.
It is well made and easy to use. And it is a great help when cutting hardwood or AZEK, both of which tend to move spontaneously while cutting.

I'm an amatuer woodworker and I always appreciate things that help make my projects go a little easier and little more accurately. This is definitely one of them. It's a extra "hand" to hold things in place when your concentration is needed for sharp objects whirling around at high rates of speed. Recommend you get one of these and use it....more info - HoldDown / Vertical Clamp
This tool is a good tool to help hold down short pieces being cut on the Dewalt saws. However, the clamps can get in the way of the saw if the saw is tilted. The clamps are easly removed if you don't need them or care not to use them....more info - Pricey, but well worth it.
This clamp is incredibly easy to use. The quick release is awesome. It is very easy to insert and remove. I like it so much, I had to get a second one....more info - Works well but seems pricey
I've been using the clamp on the left side of the DeWalt 8.5" sliding compound miter saw. I've been cutting a lot of floor boards (laminate/composite) with it over the past week and the clamp helps keep the stock very steady. There is a quick-release button that drops the clamping screw down very quickly and this can be done with one hand. However, loosening it with one hand is more difficult. You can unscrew the clamp one-handed, but releasing the quick release takes two hands. On the right hand side, the clamp works for straight cuts, but gets in the way of any cuts with the saw swung to the right (the side that goes to steeper angles)....more info - Miter Saw Vertical Clamp
Clamp works very well, and the push button release is super nice. You won't notice any wobble if you get it tight. I did notice that with my DW706 it impedes cutting a 45 degree cut on the same side as the clamp (arm won't come all the way down). the solution is to change the miter to the other side of the clamp. That's my only "con". Therefore two clamps wouldn't work if you were cutting 45's. But it's a solid clamp and well built. Works well to hold down even 2x6x10's while you're cutting....more info - Cabinet shop owner
We own several DeWalt miter saws. We use a few out at job site installs and 3 in the shop. We like them. As for the hold down device, we consider this accessory a must for safety and accuracy. It comes in especially handy when the board is too long and or heavy to keep it flat and stable on the cutting platform while you're struggling to bring the saw down for a safe and accurate cut at the same time. Though it is sloppy until you tighten it down I believe this is built in for ease of moving it from the left to the right recept hole as well as enabling the quick release to function even with dust crammed into it. (no biggy since it doesn't seem to keep it from doing it's job) I think the crown stop is pretty important as well as the extension wings. It irritates me that we always have to buy these seperately, but I guess "price pointing" has become the most important aspect of sales for comparison shopping these days....more info - It's true what they say.
As several other reviews have said - definitely a good idea - Of the various accessories for the DW708, the one I think should have been included with the saw (or at least priced more reasonably). If it was...I'd give it 5 stars. Sturdy construction, particularly considering it's an offshore-built product. It is a bit wobbly until you clamp it down on the workpiece, but that's forgiven due to the ease of removal (for switching sides, removing for steep beveling, etc)....more info - Should come in Pairs
Good clamp, very much a necessity for a big mitre saw. But, they should come in pairs. And, for the price of one....more info - Works buty
Effective concept - quick clamp and release against the table, solid construction and good ergonomics. Appears to be manufacturing overkill by machined components, reflected in my in-hand cost (...) (although being Made in Taiwan should've recovered the labor). Sloppy fit on the receiver slot but clamps securely once engaged. Not necessarily a design flaw, as dirt and debris will get in there and hamper functionality. You (probably) only need one as I do, which also places your hand subconsciously away from the blade - if you're the type. Lacks the ability to clamp close to the blade, which may be accommodated by placing a "long foot" between the round rubber shoe/base and the workpiece (not surprising, with the corporate lawyers vigilant). Recommended, yes, especially in terms of added safety alone. I deem it 4 stars, only brought down a notch by pricing - a given when you opt for the yellow power tools....more info - Works for me
Typical DeWALT quality and nice design, clamps against the table as I prefer. Easy to handle. (...) Could use a little bit more manufacturing accuracy (expected from DW), wiggles in the slot until you clamp down the workpiece. I only use one (being right-handed) on the right side, also a control device to keep your hands away form the blade (if you're the type). You can easily adapt a suitable material between the round rubber foot and the workpiece, so you can clamp close to the blade on a short piece. I can see DW designing against a long rubber shoe instead, for liability reasons - the round foot will never cross the blade path. Recommended, yes. Required, depends how you work. Why not 5? Well, 5 for me is perfection....more info
