Customer Reviews:- peace at last
Finally I can sleep in on the weekends when my husband is watching the 3 stooges at 7:00 a.m. I realized we needed a decent set of headphones and I poured over the reviews for hours. We are not into audio, or theater, so to spend hundreds of dollars did not seem reasonable considering our only use might be an hour or two a week. These sony headphones are very much worth the money. They were simple to hook up and actually the reviews indicated the only problem was the strange way you needed to put them back on the charger. It does take a moment and if you just try to drop them on the charger you might get frustrated. Take a moment to visualize the contact pins and you will quickly set them on correctly. Trying to do it blindly is a hit and miss.
If you are an audio or theater enthusiast, you might want to upgrade from here, but I think for even family entertainment they are a good value. We are pleased with the purchase....more info - works fine
the wireless headphone works fine and it met all the specification it said.......more info - WOW!
I had originally thought that there would undoubtedly be something wrong with a pair of wireless headphones that boasts so many features with a paltry price tag of $70. I can easily say now that I own them that I would have paid $150 or more for them, they are simply that good.
First and foremost the Bass is just excellent with great drivers making for powerful bass while listening. Using this on my TV, the bass alone makes me want to watch more Action flicks, which brings me to another feature --
The Rumble feature. This sucker really helps to immerse you into whatever experience you are having with whatever media you are using. I can't wait to try them out on Jurassic Park!
If these features haven't sold you, then the rechargeable batteries (NiMH that can technically also be charged in a Sony Rechargeable NiMH dock, which I also own) that charge on a dock and require only minimal recharging might just do the trick. Why do I say this? Well, to be honest I've saved what I consider to be the best feature for last --
It automatically turns itself off when not being used. There is a strap that automatically adjusts to your head; When the strap is pushed up by the head, the headset automatically turns on, but when the headset is taken off and the strap falls back to its original position, the headset automatically turns off saving HOURS of battery life, and allowing for possibly the most laziness of any headphone product I've ever used.
To be honest, there is only one problem with these headphones -- if you turn the volume up on the headphones past about 5, you will hear the fuzz from the wireless connection rather loudly. This isn't too big of a problem for me, though, because I can turn up my TV pretty loud, which makes the audio more than loud enough for me to hear on a lower setting FUZZ FREE. Thusly, I have to say that I hadn't expected anything like this from Sony, and I am so impressed that I have to give this five stars....more info - Very Nice
Nice set of headphones for watching late night TV. Haven't had any issues so far. The SRS feature isn't that great and the vibration mode really is pointless. The soft earpads are also nice, but they have to be replaced eventually because they are made from a soft material. Other than that, these sound and work nicely....more info - headphone review
The headphones work well, but the charging system connectivity is really bad. It is almost impossible to get the small probe on the charger to connect with the small probe on the headset when you set the headphones in the charging cradle...very frustrating and a very poor design by Sony!...more info - Pretty good with patience
When I first connected these I was very disappointed with all the hissing I heard during quieter moments. After tweaking, though, all the hissing has been removed. First, the Surround Sound feature adds hissing - bad. Second, the attenuator on the transmitter was adding hiss for me in the on position. Finally, I will be using these headphones at night almost exclusively, but, I was testing them during the day because I was anxious to hear how they sounded. As others have said, daylight can introduce hiss.
Finally, I am using the line out on my VCR as a sound source - I believe this is helpful since I believe this puts out a stronger (louder) signal than you typically find on a headphone jack.
After these tweaks I am completely satisfied with these headphones....more info - NOT FOR THE TREADMILL!!!
These headphones work well when there are no other electronic devices nearby, but don't get too close to an incandescent light fixture and definitely don't try to use them on the treadmill. The electric motor causes major interference which generates so much static they are not usable....more info - Great Sound, Very Comfortable
Bought these for playing video games on an HDTV, and to replace a pair of wired headphones that make me feel like my head is in a vise.
First impression, these headphones are very comfortable. Big, cushioned ear cups fit perfectly, and the headband has plenty of support to put the weight of the headphones where it should be: across the top of your head, rather than resting on your ears. Sound quality is excellent. Pay attention to the position of the IR base, or you'll start hearing static as you move out of range, but once you've got the base positioned, sound quality is excellent.
The only feature I don't understand is the vibration switch. It's supposed to "enhance the bass notes in games and music". Okay, sure. If you want your head vibrating on bass notes, that's your call. Personally, it's a feature I have very little use for.
Bottom line, they're great headphones at a great price....more info - Great
Was as great as hoped so far. Only had it for less than 1 month....more info - Simply wonderful!
I had tried a couple of other pairs before these, and these are wonderful. The sound is great. The fit your ears very comfortably. The drawbacks (though I would not let these keep you from buying them) is that the volume control is a little hard to locate when they are on your ears, and when putting them in the charging cradle you have to adjust them a little before the charging light comes on. But I stress these are MINOR things, and if I needed a second pair I would buy these in a heartbeat. Best ones I've found...can't beat SONY!...more info - Great for TV viewing
I bought these to listen to TV. They are very comfortable to wear and the sound quality is very good. As others have mentioned, you need to turn the source volume all the way up to eliminate the background hiss, but its not a problem at all.
On the downside, the controls for volume, surround, and vibration are very hard to adjust while wearing the headphones. It isn't a huge problem, but definitely an area that could be improved on future models.
Overall, I am very satisfied and will probable buy an additional set of phones for the system....more info - Peace and quiet from the other half.
Good product for the price easy to use. only complaint is that the headset sometimes is a pain to get on the charger stand correctly....more info - Bad Experience
I purchased the Sony MDRRF960RF Wireless Headphones three weeks ago. After ten minutes of use, a loud popping occurs, as if a capaciter is shorting out. When I said loud popping, I mean loud popping. The power to the transmitter immediately goes out. Sony Service in Laredo, TX has had them for two weeks now and has done nothing to address my concerns. I'm sure I just got a "bad" set, but Sony Service could at least contact me and answer my questions as what they are going to do, and when....more info - Sony MDR IF540RK Wireless Headphone system
I'm over all pleased with the head phones. The sound quality is great and the use of the special effects vibration is also great with the game console.
The one draw back I overlooked is that it's laser connected so you have to have line of site so I can't leave to room to go to the kitchen for instance if I'm watching TV....more info - Sony Headphone Review
Product was very easy to intall and works exceptionally well. Previously purchased, and returned, two headphone sets made by other manufacturers. Sound is clear and crisp, no noticeable static. Highly recommend, would purchse again. ...more info
