Invacare no longer makes a quad cane with a plastic base and 5 cane tips as shown in this picture (as I did, you can check their web site to be sure). If you purchase this product you will be shipped a slightly heavier cane with a metal base and four legs/tips.
In my experience, the plastic based canes are less durable because they tend to break easily when very cold, but I nevertheless prefer them because they are lighted weight. The handle is also more comfortable than other quad canes....more info
