Customer Reviews:- Love my KitchenAid Professional 600 6-Quart Stand Mixer
We received our mixer, this is a replacement for our prior Kitchen Aid Aritsan Mixer that we gave to our daughter when she moved out of the house into her own apt. This mixer is awsome, it makes cookie dough with little effort, and it looks amazing sitting on the countertop(I love the Nickel Pearl finish). Kitchen Aid mixers are so powerful and easy to use, I highly recommend it for anyone that loves to cook/bake....more info - great mixer for the price
great mixer for the price, wife loves it, mixer is a little loud at full rpms, but it has metal gears, great mixer...more info - Great Product
I am so pleased with our Kitchenaid Mixer. I have been able to do so much with it. No problems with it. I'm looking forward to using it in the fall to help process our harvest from the garden. ...more info - Mixer is fantastic!
I have used a 200 watt Sunbeam egg beater type since the late 70's and it finally gave-up. Never could use it for heavy cookie doughs or bread dough- had to do it all by hand. This KitchenAid (Model: KP26M1X)575 Watt Rocks my world! Cookie dough is minutes away from the oven, Breads doughs can be done with ease! Knocks the time to about 1/3 of my old mixing time. My old one was white... Buy a dark color for ease of clean-up! For sure you must buy the Grinder/Shredder/Slicer attachment for sliced potatoes and cheese shredding- makes very fast work of it if you ever need to do more than a 1/2 lb. of anything. The extra money will truly be worth the up-front investment. Don't waste your money on the middle model- you will be trading-up if you do. It's like going from the 50's wringer clothes washer to a front-load washer! This is the "Tool-Time-Tim" version of mixers! Arrh, Arrh, Arrh!...more info - PROFESSIONAL KITCHEAID
Its a nice machine, I probably didn't need one quite so powerful, I wanted to make sure it would make bread Ok. It does that! The only thing I don't like about it is that I can't lift the head back to put in ingredients. It has a pourer shield that is supposed to take the place of the movable head but doesn't always work as well. Over all, I like it alot. Rose...more info - Garbage
I used the speeds for the dough hook as specified and it still burned the motor out. I'm not sure where I want to go from here but I don't think I'll take anymore chances with this lousy machine....more info - Third Kitchen Aid mixer
This is the third Kitchen Aid mixer I have bought and it has lasted the longest. The first two lasted just over a year each, this one( the Professional 600 Series 6 quart Stand Mixer) has lasted from December of 2006 to today february 28, 2009. The gears have gone on this one, just like the first one and the second one the plastic housing broke. This one also has a plastic housing but a little more substantial.
They work great when they work but they don't last that long. I just bought another one for our Daughter for Christmas(the professional 600 series) thinking that Kitchen-aid finally got it right. We will see how long it lasts....more info - A good compromise
I had a 525 watt KA Pro 600 for about seven years before I burn out the gears. I loved the mixer but abused it kneading dough above the suggested speed of 2. I bought the new 590 watt KA Pro 610 from WS. It is a special addition of the 600 by WS (they some how increased the wattage). I called KA and they said it was almost identical to the 600. I love the new dough hook.
I considered buying the Bosch mixer which has the best reputation for kneading bread but it is not a good choice if you like to use your mixer for cookies and cakes. It is also really ugly and plastic. You have to buy the cookie blade separately.
The Cuisinart was rated higher in Cook's Illustrated. Unfortunately, I need the pasta roller and only the KA carries the pasta roller. If I did not need the pasta attachment, I would have purchased the Cuisinart. It has a larger bowl.
Viking's mixer looks great but it does not have a pasta roller.
So, after talking to the other bakers that I know, I decided in purchasing the KA again. I have the attachments that I love and now I have two bowls! I bought a red mixer and I just love it!
One thing I will do different is limit the flour to less than 5 cups for bread. Cookie and cake mixes can use up to 10 cups without too much of a strain. Never had a problem in the old KA mixer with soft or light doughs. Breads are harder on the mixer.
Overall, I am happy with the KA. It is the best looking mixer. I leave mine on my counter and looks are important. For my needs, it is functional. I appreciate its limitations now, so I hope it last longer. I decided to purchase through WS because they have better customer service than other stores and KA. ...more info - Smaller is probably better.
I watched how the foodnet work shows used this mixer and it looked so simple, quick and easy. Well it's not. The lift bowl gets in the way of taking on and off beater. The head does not lift like the smaller versions, it's heavy, and good luck getting a cover to fit. I ordered a cover for the 6 quart mixer and it still is about an inch too short. I think I would have been happier with the 5 quart artisian....more info - Smaller is probably better.

I love to bake! when I'm happy, I bake, when I'm stressed, I bake, when I'm sad, I bake... You get the idea, so I wanted a heavy duty almost industrial type but nice kind of mixer. This is wonderful! It is super fast in everything I do. I do several loaves of bread at a time, and 3 batches of cookies without a problem. I feel like I CAN DO ANYTHING!!
:-D
I have owned it for 3 years now and it is in great shape, it is worth the money....more info - It's good (but not great)
Maybe I'm just a creature of old habits but I don't feel like this mixes as well as my old hand-held mixer, which I still have. I even bought the smaller 3-qt bowl/attachment to see if it would mix better for my smaller mixes but I still don't feel like it gets as thoroughly mixed. I will say that it does mix more QUICKLY, but who needs faster if it's not better? I have to stop the mixer frequently so that I can swipe down the sides with my spatula but this just slows me down.
I'm still happy with my purchase..it just wasn't as amazing and life-changing as I thought owning my very first stand mixer will be. Maybe I'll update my review after using it for a few months and figure out my little mixer a bit better. ...more info - Kitchenaid 600 series mixer
I can not say anything bad about this machine! I am still exploring making things in it but every recipe thus far makes the job much easier. I have made 2 loaves of bread at once with ease and from start to finish had homemade chocolate chip cookies in my mouth within 30 mins!I am very happy with owning the 600 series :-)...more info - Third Kitchen Aid mixer

I have had the KitchenAid 600 Series in Nickel Pearl for over a year now and I LOVE IT! I have had no problems with it. I have the pasta attachments, meat grinder, shredder, and juicer attachments. I've used them all this product works like a charm =) You always worry when you spend so much money, if it's going to be worth it and I am happy that my mixer did not disappoint me because all I have wanted to get one of these for years!...more info - Good news, Bad news
The bad news is that the mixer (6 qt. Pro) sounded bad right out of the box. It got to the point where the motor was scary after one month of use. The good news is that after calling and letting the customer service actually listen to it, they replaced it immediately, even though the service rep seemed to indicate that we had done something wrong. The new mixer is not exactly quiet either, but haven't used it yet, just turned it on to see how it sounded. We had a 4 1/2 qt mixer for years and the motor sounded like a mixer usually does. ...more info - Garbage

I just upgraded from a 4 1/2 qrt Classic to this. I love it! I love the room to do double and triple batches. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it doesn't weight a ton, making it easy to put away in my small kitchen!...more info - a piece of junk!!!!!
I bought a kitchenAid stand mixer for light use at home to make cookies and now the machine is leaking oil. Apparently this is a common problem because if you search the internet about this machine leaking oil you will find several blogs where hundreds of people complain about it. Please do research about this machine before you buy it. By the way, my daughter just got one for xmast and hers is also leaking oil. Check out this site and you'll see how common this problem is and how the Kitchenaid company refuses to fix this problem. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/homeowners/kitchenaid_mixers.html...more info - Wheat-Free, Gluten-Free products are easy with this mixer
As a result of a diet, both my wife and I found that we were wheat-sensitive, and finding good tasting wheat-free, gluten-free (WF/GF) bread in our friendly grocery store proved to be impossible. WF/GF bread made from scratch involves a sticky mess that will quickly clog hand-held mixers. But, with the purchase of this KitchenAid Pro 600, that's a thing of the past.
The mixer easily combines the WF/GF flours, gums and other ingredients with a minimum of fuss and bother. We now carry the mixer with us when we travel in our RV, and I've made WF/GF bread and muffins with ease. It's heavy enough to not walk across the counter when operating, yet light enough to tote with us. I premix the flour combinations with the whisk, then change to the paddle when adding liquids. The 6-quart bowl is large enough for two 1 1/2 pound loafs, and should easily accomodate two 2-lb loaves. I'd recommend this mixer to anyone....more info
