Customer Reviews:- awesome perfomance
This is a great DVD by the TEMPS...the music was great...the only disappointment....was "Since I Lost My Baby" was not included...more info - The Tempting Temptations
This DVD is what my son would say (OFF THE CHAIN). Watching the Temptations sing and dance to these fabulous songs of Motown brought back some wonderful memories for me. You will have to get up and dance, there is no way you can just sit and watch this. I am thoroughly pleased with my purchase. Temptation fans run out and get this, it is a must have for your video collection....more info - THIS DVD IS SO AWSOME!!! MAKES YOU WISH THERE WAS MORE!!
I just purchased this DVD last week, and so far I have seen it 5 times! This brings back so many memories when I was a kid growing up in Los Angeles, and looking on my B/W TV at such astounding performances such as the Tempts--I was so amazed at their impeccable clothing and their dance steps was so awesome!! I had such a crush on Eddie, even though he was so reed-thin, but he had this innocent and shy little boy look while he was singing his leads, especially on "You're my everything", that you wish you could just hold him in your arms, and tell him everything is all right-Otis mentioned this when he asked someone else what was it about Eddie that women went gaa-gaa over.
The only thing I regret about the DVD, was that it was not long enough--I wish there could have been more performances, or maybe have a part 2? Anyway, there must be some more performances somewhere to make another DVD--But here's a thought(unless someone else thought of it first): What if they brought back the shows, and I mean the ENTIRE shows of TCB, The Temptation Show, or GIT, and others and put them on DVD for sale, and also have the audio(soundtracks) for sale on CD to accompany the DVDs--I think those would sell well now, since this DVD came out, stirring up quite a bit of memories of people who remember the original Temptations, like I did!! Today's young artists could take a lesson from classic groups like the Temptations--I can not even stand to look at shows like the grammys, because half of the young performers go to these award shows looking and acting like bums!! Boy, times certainly have changed!! There would never be another Eddie, Paul, Melvin, Otis, David, or Dennis!! ...more info - The Temptations Definitive Performances 1965-1972
Talk about great groups. The Temptations were one of the best. A must have for any lover of R & B/Rock & Roll music....more info - Original Temps at their best
Growing up in the era of Group Soul artist i.e ,The Dells ,Smokey and the Miracles, Manhatten's and of course The Temptations. The DVD is a history lesson of the Original Temptations, from their beginning and the forces of change not only in personnel but musical styles of the 70'ths and 80'ths. As prominence of all who can call themselves Temptations, the only disappointment was Otis not mentioning by name those who had a great part in the overall success of the Temps. The history can't be written without mentioning the like and styling of Ollie Woodson, Richard Street and the young man Melvin called the super-tenor Damon Otis Harris.Otis you can sat and count your royalties of all the Temps. hits but your pockets was lined with the talents you failed to mention by name. To the end those left out are still out there giving the history of the Temps. the glowing shine with their polish acts and great performances. A great DVD and could be greater with the inclusion of those who are the Temptations....more info - Now I Know...
For a lot of reasons which I won't get into here, I pretty much missed the Temptations as I was growing up in the 60s and 70s. In fact, I didn't know they existed until I purchased a laptop computer a few years back. I got the last one, which had been used as a demo in the store, and it had a copy of the Temptations TV movie in it.
Curious, I watched it -- and fell in love with the group and their music instantly, while regretting the fact that I missed them the first time around...
This DVD -- which gets played a lot! -- has enabled me to capture some of what made this group great in the first place. Thanks for making it available, and I'd love to see more! ...more info - Must have for Temptations or Motown Fans
This is a must have for any Temptations and/or Motown fan. The concerts are excellent quality and the interviews with Otis Williams are very insightful and priceless. Only caution is that it is hard to get it back if you let friends borrow it (might want to purcahse more than one copy if you plan to loan it out). ...more info - Temptin' Temptations forever!!
For any Motown, or music fan or historian, these type of anthologies are a trip back to music when music was music before technology and all the other things we associate with today's sounds and artists even existed. As a baby boomer from NY, we all grew up either being Tempts, Miracles, Delfonics, Stylistics, Moments, and you'd better be able to at least emulate some dance steps or sound "better than the shower" or you were wasting your time at all those sock-hops, high school dances, or good old fashioned house parties of the era. It is what we grew up on and what we remain loyal to today, even as we try to let the now generation know there WAS music BEFORE what they now listen to. That being said, this is a must have for anyone who has ever done the 'Temptation walk' or who would like to learn where so much music history and legacy comes from. Yes, there is a lot of lip synching (pre-digital and computer track era), but to see the original unit in their prime is priceless. There are always those who will complain about only having Otis Williams' take on things alone, but that is what happens when only one member is around to tell the story, and this DVD is not about dishing or rehashing the other (personal) stuff, but about celebrating the music and the magic. You can think back and laugh at the pointed toed shoes, the high water pants, and the fact we all wore them (proudly) too! To see the Hollywood Palace, Murray the 'K', the Temptations' Show and all those '60's venues brings one back to a time of youth, nostalgia, history, music and as I stated, magic. Now that I have this DVD I can jump in the "Way Back Time Machine" with Mr.Peabody and Sherman any time I want.!!...more info - ONE OF THE BEST
I totally enjoyed this DVD. Even though many of the performances weren't live, the dance moves were real and original. I just wish that someone would have had the vision of recording full live concerts of The Temps and many other R&B groups, back in the day, when they were in their prime....more info - TEMPTATIONS!!!
IF YOU ENJOYED THE TEMPTS IN THE 60'S YOU WILL LOVE THIS TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE.THIS IS A KEEPER!!...more info - The worlds best male vocal group
I am a product of the sixties and like most of us from this era Motown was
very influential for me. I remember the first time I heard the Tempts. These guys truly defined the meaning of vocal harmony, finese and cool. I
consider myself average singer and because of the Tempts I started my own
group in the late sixties. Anyway, these performances are timeless and they are a reminder of days gone by as we don't see this caliber of singing and performing with class and meaningful lyrics. In my lifetime I'm hoping to see the return to pure singing and real music on this level.
I never tire of looking at these performances.....
Thanks to you Amazon for providing these gems and to the Tempts for their
dedication to music
All the best

I'll make it short but sweet. If you are a Tempts fan, you HAVE to buy this DVD. It is totally, completely awesome! Hearing the songs, watching the moves, Otis' comments...I smiled the entire time I watched it. Thank you to whoever finally released this treasure!!!!...more info - Temptations Forever
I really enjoyed this DVD. To actually see The Temptations in actions moving the way they do was incredible. I've personally watched the TV movie Temptations about 4 times since a good friend of mine showed it to me.
The Temptations have remarkably blessed voices and very precise dance choreography. The way their voices are arranged on the tracks and how they are sung really touches one's soul. That is something that is lacking for the most part in songs today. One can see the picture The Temptations are creating with their voices because their songs are infused with emotion and meaning.
I could only wish that I would have been able to see in person The Temptations. I'm 22yrs of age and think that more people my age should learn where that true Motown Sound originated.
A+++++ in my book....more info - Review of Temptation Performances 1965-1972 - Get Ready
This DVD is golden. My husband and I were teenagers during this era and I got this as a gift for him. We watched it together and really enjoyed it. It took us back to the days when we were in Detroit during the Motown days. The performances are fantastic and I am so glad I found it. Please keep tapes like this available for those of us who can remember. Thanks Amazon. ...more info - Brilliant!
I must say that this video is absolutely stunning! I did not even exist when the tempts
were at their magical 60's peak, however the magic even captured me! This video has
inspired me to learn more about the group that had such a tremendous effect on the history of popular music. The performance and choreography on "Get Ready" is a breath taker. Paul Williams was and will always be the "true" temptation (in the words of Mr. Otis Williams). In many ways I am grateful that I was not around during this period of time. Because if I were....I would be hooked! This is not the last piece of gold I will purchase from the tempts collection of classics!! Temptations Forever!! ...more info - Mind Blowing!
I am a huge fan of the original Temptations. I can hardly remember the original Tempts because I was like, only five when I heared their music. My sisters and I would move the coffee table to the corner of the room so we could do our mighty Temptations steps. I don't remember seeing the Tempts preform on tv as a child, so I vaguely remember how they looked. I recall seeing the movie The Temptations, starring those good looking men that protrayed them. I could not remember Paul Williams being in the group. After purchasing just about ALL of the Temptations cd's, I found out by listening to their music, Paul Williams was the SOUL of the group and the sexest baritone I had ever heard,(MEET THE TEMPTATIONS)Paul Williams sang lead on most of the songs and his voice is ALSOME!! I started looking for Temptations VHS's or DVD's,this was not an easy task. I was so thrilled to find the DVD "Get Ready",I was so amazed to see the orignal Tempts doing their thang, I find myself watching it all the time. The moves are so smooth and Paul Williams, not only is he the best crooner of the group, he could dance also. Eddie is just as and boy-ish looking, you can't help but admire him. David Ruffin, with his cool moves will hypnotize you! Melvin seemed to love every minute of their performances. Otis Williams narrates the whole program telling how it all began. You have got to purchase this DVD,its a must have for all the Temptation's fans out there. To me the original Tempts are the Emperors Of Soul!!!!!! ...more info - Loved the Tempting Temps
Loved this nostalgic memorial to my favorite singers. Loved their routines, loved their songs, loved the costumes, loved David Ruffin....What more can I say..........Sandee...more info - Fantastic
The DVD is a must have, it brought back memories of the days when music was music. :-)

I was quite excited to get my DVD showing the Temptations during their classic years and this DVD also shows Dennis Edwards in his prime with a couple of others that came in toward the end of those classic years. Otis does a narration or two breaking down how things were in the early days. He doesn't go into much detail, which I partly wished he did, but we can get that in his book! This DVD made me smile when I saw Eddie looking into my eyes, making little mistakes and looking so sweet and charming and young again. It brought back all those pre-teen feelings I used to have. David was the showman extraordinaire. Melvin made you want to dance and Paul was there doing his routines with flaire and toward the end with care. I definitely give this five stars because it has it all...plus! KS...more info - Temptations Forever
This is a must have for any true Temptation Fan. The grouping of Melvin, David, Eddie, Paul and Otis at their singing, dancing and dressing best is without equal during their hey day. The added bonus of commentaries from the last living original Temptation - Otis Wiliams is the icing on the musical cake. The Temptations' music will live on FOREVER and this DVD clearly demonstrates why the Tempt are the Emperors of Soul. MLF...more info - Temptations Get Ready CD
The CD was BLANK! What a shock. I have not returned it as I went in for emergency surgery. ...more info - A Must Have For All Temp Fans!
The Temps are my husband's and my fav soul group. My husband saw them live in Lawrence, Kansas at K.U. in the 60's. I am so jealous! It is so difficult to find live performances of the 60's soul music. This is a great compliation of many of their hits. The images are wonderful and the narration is great. The sounds, the harmony, the moves. A must have! I miss them all so much! Here are Eddie, David and all at their very best....more info - Buy it Today!
Perfectly executed video compilation. Kudos to the folks at Reelin' in the Years Productions. Full length performances, improved sound where possible-exactly what a DVD like this should be. I'm getting the rest of these as soon as possible....more info - Big Time Stuff
If you buy this DVD, you will watch it many times. I'm 45 years old. I've heard all these Temptations classics all my life, but to see how the Temptations dressed, see the moves, and hear the commentary is a treat. I've purchased four of these DVD's and my dad has purchased four. Hey, don't take my word for it check it out....more info - Get ready : If you liked the classic Temptation lineup you'll like this!
I enjoyed seeing this video of the Tempts performing some of their hits from classic dance shows of the 60's. They were a group of dynamic showmen and great singers. Too bad there are no performances of I'll Be In Trouble, The Girls Alright With Me, Girl Why You Wanna Make Me Blue, You've Got To Earn It and Since I Lost My Baby. Also it would have been great if they had some views and commentary from the other classic Tempts, I know there are recorded conversations of them somewhere. They had a little too much of tunnel visioned Otis Williams to suit me. I have followed the group since 1961 and I have allways felt that Melvin Franklin, Eddie Kendricks, David Ruffin, Paul Williams and Otis Williams were the best of the best! I was a little bit disappointed because of the afformentioned omissions, But I gave it three out five stars simply because it's the classic Tempts in fine form....more info
